Planning a Wedding at the Domaine de la Traxène

Julien Briche

There is a particular place in the Pas-de-Calais, less than an hour from Le Touquet, on the edge of the Côte d’Opale. A place where, across eleven hectares of nature, time seems to slow down. That place is the Domaine de la Traxène, an 18th-century manor that welcomes couples looking for something more than just a wedding day. A team stays by your side from the first call to the last goodbye, once the celebration is over, making sure every detail falls into place without ever weighing on you.

A walk through the estate

The Domaine de la Traxène reveals itself step by step, like a walk. Each space has its own role, its own atmosphere, its own moment in the flow of the wedding.

The gardens

The ceremony can take its time beneath the centuries-old trees, sheltered from the wind that sometimes blows in off the Côte d’Opale. Eleven hectares of preserved nature give each moment room to breathe, from vows exchanged outdoors to the cocktail hour that follows, beneath the foliage or facing the flowering beds, depending on the season chosen.

Les salles de réception

The estate offers several halls, each with its own character. The Victor Hugo hall, with its red brick and original timber framing, welcomes large receptions of up to 360 guests. For more intimate weddings, the Caravelle hall, set in the former stables, or the Médicis hall with its French-style atmosphere, offer a more close-knit setting. The Préau Fleuri, bathed in light thanks to its tall windows, is ideal for a civil ceremony or a brunch facing the gardens. Each hall adapts to the size and spirit of your wedding. Centuries-old brick, Boulonnais marble and exposed elm framing bear witness to a careful restoration, where the venue’s authenticity meets genuine comfort.

Residential Spaces

The seventy-five rooms naturally round out the estate, spread across suites and rooms just steps from the celebration. They let guests coming from Lille, Arras or Belgium extend the evening without thinking about the drive home, and let the newlyweds enjoy one last morning on site, surrounded by their loved ones. Availability varies by season: in high season, between May and September, bookings are generally made several months ahead, while low season allows more flexibility for planning a wedding earlier in the year.

Access and parking

Because every detail matters on your wedding day, the Domaine de la Traxène has thought through the welcome of your guests from the moment they arrive. The estate offers two private car parks with a combined capacity of 250 spaces, fully enclosed and under video surveillance. Your guests arrive and leave with complete peace of mind, with no parking concerns. One more layer of ease, so you can focus fully on what matters: enjoying this exceptional day.

The Spirit of the Estate

There comes a moment when you realise a place can’t be summed up by its square footage or its guest capacity. At the Domaine de la Traxène, that moment often happens in the rose garden. A rose bush was specially created there, named “Belle de la Traxène,” in pastel shades that stand apart from the deeper pink of the arched rose bowers. It’s there that many couples choose to say “I do” during a civil ceremony, or to pose for their first photos as newlyweds. At the end of the day, each couple leaves with a cutting of that same rose bush, a living memento that will keep blooming long after the celebration.

But if you had to sum up the estate’s luxury in one word, it would be calm. Once the gates close, eleven hectares of nature shelter guests like a cocoon, far from noise and the usual pace of life. Walking through the park, strolling along the pond or crossing through the woods, the evening before or the morning after the big day, means rediscovering a kind of silence that’s increasingly rare. The estate is, in fact, a member of the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux (bird protection league), a quiet but genuine commitment to preserving the nature that gives this place its character. Here, a wedding is never just a party: it’s a pause, a true breath of fresh air to reconnect.

Caterer

Our partner caterer Culin'R builds a menu with you that reflects your story, blending flavours from the Côte d'Opale with revisited classics. Every meal is thought of as a moment of the wedding in its own right, never a mere formality, from the welcome cocktail through to the evening dinner. Cheeses, charcuterie and local specialities naturally find their place in a cuisine that favours the right gesture over the grand demonstration.

The morning after still matters just as much: a generous brunch, an open buffet mixing sweet and savoury, extends the weekend in the gardens or indoors, for one last shared moment before everyone heads home.

Decor

Every space is designed around the flow of your day and your wishes, from the choice of materials to the table settings. The decor follows your theme, whether rustic, understated or resolutely classic, and adapts to the estate's proportions without ever altering their character. The reception hall or the outdoor spaces transform to match the atmosphere you're after, from understated to striking.

Entertainment

The evening finds its rhythm through a network of vendors chosen for their expertise: musicians, DJs, a saxophonist to accompany the cocktail hour or the evening, sound systems suited to the estate's scale, lighting for the spaces as night falls. Video equipment rounds out the offering for those who want to capture a speech or a first dance.

For those who like to extend the celebration in other ways, the estate also offers things to bring young and old together: pétanque, table football, laser tag, or even an obstacle course to enjoy as a family. A way to create memories that step outside the formal programme, for an afternoon.

Photos and videos

Photographers and videographers capture your finest memories, the ones that will stay etched in your mind as much as at the Domaine de la Traxène. Every photographer composes against the estate's flower-filled park as a natural backdrop, from getting ready through to the evening, taking in the ceremony and the cocktail hour along the way. Every moment thus finds its place in an album that tells the whole story of the wedding.

Religious ceremony

For couples wishing for a Catholic celebration, a recently restored church can be found in Fruges, five kilometres from the estate. An arrangement with the diocese gives priority to couples marrying at the Traxène, and the local parish team guides each couple through the process, right up to the day of the ceremony.

The day after your wedding at the Domaine de la Traxène

The celebration ends, but the experience carries on. Because an exceptional wedding deserves a weekend to match, the Domaine de la Traxène invites you to savour the next morning with the same elegance, surrounded by those who matter most.

From the first meeting to the big day

We’re often asked how much a wedding at the Domaine de la Traxène costs. The honest answer is that it depends on you: your guest count, your wishes, the formula that suits you. What never changes is the way we do things: nothing is decided in passing, everything is set out in black and white in the contract, down to the smallest detail. You’ll always know exactly what you’re signing up for.

The simplest way to start is with a virtual tour, from home, with no commitment. If the estate speaks to you, a call or a few lines on our form is enough to start the conversation. And often, couples come to see us directly on site. We sit down over a drink, talk about this day that matters more than any other, share the charm of a venue that has grown with every wedding celebrated here, every story written before yours, and above all, we listen to what you have in mind.

This guidance doesn’t stop once the contract is signed. Isabelle offers ten hours of wedding planning to each couple, outside of Wednesday weddings, in the form of video appointments booked around your availability. These cover the flow of your day, choosing vendors, the decor, and sometimes more legal questions too. Here, we don’t just hand you a venue: we help you avoid the missteps.

Isabelle, a family story before it was a story of weddings

Some women fall in love with a place the way one falls in love with a person. Isabelle Braure is one of them. When her family took over the estate in 2009, she immediately saw more than just a building to restore: a setting waiting for a second wind, ready to welcome new celebrations. It fell to her to take on the most delicate task, giving this rediscovered place a soul and turning it into a venue built for quality and professionalism.

Today, she’s often the one who welcomes you on your first visit. She speaks about the estate with the warmth of someone who watched it come back to life, knows every corner of the gardens, every quality of light at every hour of the day, and puts all her expertise into organising your wedding. Spend time with Isabelle, and you quickly understand that the experience lived here is never just a date on a calendar: she promises an unforgettable moment, carried by the same standard of quality that has built the estate’s reputation.

Your finest memories, already written by others
